Senior Accountant ($70,000-80,000 per year)

Pittsburgh area company is in need of a senior level Accountant with experience in the manufacturing sector.  The selected candidate will have a focus on cost management, inventory control, and operational efficiency alongside standard corporate reporting.

Key duties to include:

·         Maintain and update standard costs for products; analyze manufacturing variances, labor absorption, and purchase price variances

·         Oversee cycle counts, reconcile physical inventory to the general ledger, and perform analysis on obsolete or excess stock  

·         Lead month-end close processes, prepare consolidated financial statements, and produce gross margin reports by product or division

·         Provide “Make vs. Buy” analysis and Cost-Volume-Profit (CVP) simulations to help management optimize production levels

·         Implement and monitor controls specifically for production and inventory to ensure compliance with GAAP and SOX standards

·         Coordinate with plant managers to develop annual operating budgets and provide monthly budget-versus-actual variance reporting

·         Payroll preparation

Requirements: 

·         Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

·         CPA and/or CMA certifications are highly preferred

·         5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2–3 years specifically within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

·         Advanced proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, MS Dynamics) and Excel skills to include pivot tables and complex formulas  

·         Ability to investigate complex discrepancies in production data.

·         Effectively communicating financial insights to non-financial plant personnel and production managers

·         Mentoring junior staff and overseeing day-to-day activities of accounting associates
