Pittsburgh law firm is in need of an experienced Litigation Paralegal. The selected candidate will provide comprehensive support to attorneys in all phases of litigation, with a focus on matters involving ERISA, employee benefits, retirement plans, pension plans, health and welfare benefits, fiduciary liability, and disability claims. This position assists with case management, discovery, legal research, document preparation, trial support, and client communications.

Duties to include:

  • Assist attorneys in managing ERISA and other complex litigation matters from inception through resolution.
  • Draft and prepare pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, and correspondence.
  • Organize and maintain case files, litigation databases, and document management systems.
  • Review, analyze, and summarize plan documents, summary plan descriptions, administrative records, medical records, and other case-related materials.
  • Coordinate and manage document productions, electronic discovery (e-discovery), and privilege reviews.
  • Assist with preparation for depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
  • Cite-check and proofread legal filings and briefs.
  • Conduct factual investigations and legal research related to ERISA regulations, employee benefit plans, and federal court procedures.
  • Monitor court deadlines and maintain litigation calendars.
  • Coordinate communications with clients, opposing counsel, experts, third-party administrators, and plan fiduciaries.
  • Prepare exhibits, witness files, trial notebooks, and hearing materials.
  • Assist in reviewing disability, pension, health benefit, and fiduciary breach claims.

Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree, Paralegal Certificate, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of litigation paralegal experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting ERISA litigation, employee benefits, labor and employment, or complex commercial litigation matters.
  • Knowledge of federal court procedures, electronic filing systems, and litigation support software.
  • Experience with document review platforms and e-discovery tools.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, proofreading, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software.
