Pittsburgh area electrical contracting company in need of experienced Project Manager/Executive. Selected candidate will provide leadership and direction at the (multiple) program level while assuming ownership and accountability for the profit and loss of their program. The Project Manager/Executive will guide projects through business development, estimating, planning, fabrication, purchasing, project management and field installation.

Responsibilities to include:

  • Responsible for labor contract management with business agents
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers to acquire profitable work
  • Guide project through estimating phase and create project proposal
  • Responsible for successfully managing a 3-5 year timespan
  • Ability to ask for and allocate their own budget, establish their own headcount, seize the demand; accountable to size incoming demand for market and hire when demand requires regardless if their supervisor initiates; willingness to initiate budget spend independently without being asked or given permission
  • Manages team through regular check-ins, verifying team is performing according to standards and customers’ expectations, removing roadblocks and escalating any issues and being available for teams’ questions and concerns
  • Responsible for staffing. Interviews, hires, and trains new employees. Develops standard interview questions for open positions. Collaborates with other departments about manpower needs and projections. Understands employee and subcontractor costs for project needs

    Serves as people developer, by motivating team, building trust and rapport, providing candid feedback, organizing teambuilding activities and creating an environment where employees thrive
  • Evaluates performance of employees by doing 90-day reviews for new hires, utilizing the peer feedback process, giving formal feedback to employees during the EPE process, measuring employees’ skills through assessments, helping define KPIs for team and regularly providing feedback to employees on their accomplishments and areas for improvement
  • Supports company policies, culture and mission. Understands and educates team on Employee Handbook, company processes, protocols and initiatives
  • Responsible for training employees on standards, technology, etc. Training can be done directly or through another individual or third party
  • Serves on the company’s core leadership team, participating in weekly meetings, and collaborating and challenging other team members as needed
  • Ability to look 3-5 years ahead to see trends and problem solve and steer the Project Management Team accordingly
  • Understands and monitors all financial aspects of the opportunities assigned, make fiscal responsible decisions both personally and professionally
  • Creates project budgets and provides feedback to Estimating
  • Ensures Project Management Team works and communicates openly with the Pre-Construction Team
  • Develops Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Project Management Team processes
    Builds systems and processes (and serves as process owner) to unify the company’s Project Delivery Process
  • Provides financial responsibility for maintaining healthy cash flow and target profits within markets; develops Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to help monitor progress
    Maintains and develops strong customer relationships
  • Effectively and confidently present to customers or large groups
  • Identifies/provides input to opportunities/projects to pursue (what we bid)
  • Equips project team to develop and maintain customer relationships
  • Determines project team for potential or upcoming projects
  • Identifies training for the Project Management Team to effectively perform their job duties
  • Grows and develops staff to operate as a team rather than individual units
  • Ensures manpower is coordinated with Senior Superintendents and Project Management Team
    Communicates with other departments/employees the roles and responsibilities of the Project Management Team
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management
